User Scripts to Improve the Forums

Do you miss HTML and other cool stuff in the forums? DD32 has written a few pieces of JavaScript that can be used to enhance your experience if you use Firefox or Opera. Currently there is no support for IE. However it may be added in the future.

Firefox Instructions

  1. Install the Greasemonkey extension for Firefox.
  2. Choose a script from below that looks like something you want.
  3. View the script source by clicking on the link.
  4. Greasemonkey will ask you if you'd like to install it.

Opera Instructions

Enabling

  1. Open the JavaScript options dialogue.
    1. Tools (Menu Name)
    2. Preferences (Menu Item)
    3. Advanced (Tab)
    4. Content (Option in left list)
    5. Java script options (button)
  2. Set the Path to a local folder where you want to store your user scripts. (eg. you could use C:\User_Javascript)
  3. Close the JavaScript options and preferences. It's now Enabled.

Installing Scripts

  1. [Optional]Open the JavaScript file which you wish to use.
  2. Save the file into the user scripts folder you specified (eg. C:\User_Javascript)
  3. The user script should now be installed and working. No restart of opera required

Note: Make sure the name is in the format “script_name.user.js” it MUST have .user.js after it.
Note 2: In some windows configurations you may not be able to see the .js extension on the file.
*Fix: Insert link to enabling file extensions if needed?*

Disclaimer

  1. If you use the All-In-One, don't use any of the others as well.
  2. These scripts have undergone some testing, but you should be aware that you are using them at your own risk.
  3. This page is still under heavy construction and may change dramatically once DD32 gets his hands dirty.
